[sets the plate aside and leans in for a kiss]

[ also puts aside his plate to lean into the kiss, one hand moving to place itself on gingham's arm. only come back a few moments later to say: ]

Another good reason to stay the night more often and also a good opener to the embarrassingly long "Things that are great about Gingham speech," I'm typing in my head. Biasedly you're a great kisser.

[ it's not a distraction, it's half a distraction- ]

You could also forget the speech if you wanted. Just an offer.

I am so not forgetting the speech. It's on our list of important conversation pieces or did you forget already?

Let's move on to the mirror thing.

[ Exhales as he shifts back slightly to pull his legs up onto the bed and pull them close to his chest to wrap his arms around them. Gaze shifting to Gingham's mirror before shrugging a little: ]

It scares me.

Because of what it might mean, or...?

A little of both?

It's [ stupid. It's not stupid, but he wants to say it. His gaze stays downwards. ]

I don't feel like my life's my own. Or like, the more we're here the more I see him and -

Maybe we aren't really them, but some part of us is them? It doesn't bode well. His entire family died helping save the world. Half the superheroes on their team going missing or die too it's like -

[ Shrugs. ] What does that mean for me?

I don't think it has to mean anything if you don't want it to. And I know just saying that and not worrying is way easier said than done, but...

I don't think you're, like, on a set course just because you keep getting visions of someone who ended up in danger a lot.

[ some of that sounds familiar in a way he almost smiles a little. ]

Yeah, that's how I try to think about it. It's just a lot harder when you look in a mirror and don't even see yourself?

Yeah, I can get that. It's harder to distance yourself when it's literally staring you in the face... I can't fault you for being scared.

[ a small nod and he shifts a little ]

And then there's -

[ his hand moves to ruffle the curls at the spot of his head where the scarring is. ]

So when I look at the mirror and I see his eyes I'm just like... I like magick? I really, really like magick. But I don't think I want his, like ever.

Why's that?

[ In lieu of an immediate answer he gets up to where his jacket was left and pulls out... his diary. He flips to a page towards the middle of the book and comes back over to hand it to Gingham to read.

notably the "has killed people accidentally with magick" line is bolded and circled as much as he can manage with lines under things like the mind control line ]

... Most of that's stuff I learned from the Dixie performance a while ago? I edited some stuff if I learned about it from visions.

[looking at it for a moment, concerned]

... If you really don't want it, your best bet might be not watching them anymore?

That thought does assume we might get them one day. And they're not blessings and I already have mine.

[ That's his attempt at being hopeful that maybe it's possible even if looking in the mirror scares him. ]

It's just a lot. And he's just a kid - I'm just a kid. That's too much responsibility.

[ shifts to pick up his plate again. he doesn't take the diary back yet. giving him a partly amused, knowing glance:]

Kind of sucks it's hard not to feel some level of responsible about it, huh?

[ because he knows gingham has his own worries about visions. ]

We don't know for sure it will, yeah, but - I think it's worth keeping in mind as a possibility.

[pops another piece of bacon in his mouth with a little sigh]

...Yeah, it does.

[ Gives a small nod. It feels like a possibility. ]

Hence scared.

[ Shifts to close the diary and put it to the side. ]

- In case you worried about it, I don't write about only him in here. I write about everything important to me, even if it caused some trouble in the past.

...I get it. I'm scared, too.

[tilting his head]

Trouble in the past?

[ he swallows something down a little and - he's just going to take his hand at that. ]

[ shakes his head. ]

I've always been afraid of forgetting again so I've written stuff down for forever. It was before we really knew each other, but someone got a hold of it and was like - just a bunch of stuff about me figuring out my feelings or whatever. It was bad at the time, but I'm letting them take something away that was comfortable to me.

[takes it easily, entwining their fingers]

Whoever that person is, they're a huge jerk.

[ smiles some before leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek and then lean his head on his shoulder. mildly, jokingly: ]

Good thing they can't see how I have way more than three pages about you in it now.

[ ... and goes to steal a piece of his bacon at that. is this bullying? ]

Ooh, the suspense...

[and then, after the bacon theft:]

And betrayal too!
